Pakistan need to strategise beyond first session to win second Test
Pakistan's plan to win the second Test against England hinges on improvements to their first-session performance.
Pakistan have lost the opening session in both innings in Rawalpindi and Multan, and that has cost them dearly.
The tourists have made the most of the conditions in the first session, when the ball has swung and seamed. Pakistan, in contrast, have been unable to find their rhythm and have lost wickets at regular intervals.
If Pakistan are to win the second Test, they will need to find a way to stop the rot in the first session.
One option would be to change their bowling attack, bringing in a spinner or a more experienced seamer. Another option would be to change their batting order, sending in a more attacking batsman to face the new ball.
Whatever changes Pakistan make, they will need to find a way to improve their first-session performance if they are to have any chance of winning the second Test.
